Welcome – University of Copenhagen

FIDE 2014 > Welcome

Take a tour of our city (video)

On behalf of FIDE, the Danish Association for European Law, and the Faculty of Law at the University of Copenhagen, it is a great honour for me to invite you to the forthcoming FIDE Congress in 2014 in Copenhagen.

FIDE stands for Fédération Internationale pour le Droit Européen, and is devoted to the study and development of the law and institutions of the European Union. It carries on a tradition of distinguished congresses organised in different EU Member States, which has lasted for more than fifty years. The forthcoming congress will be the 26th in this long line of outstanding congresses. The issues dealt with will as always be contemporary and important issues of EU law.

Following Denmark’s presidency of the EU in the first half of 2012, it is a wonderful next step for other layers of the Danish society to welcome Europe to Denmark by taking over the presidency of FIDE and the responsibility of the FIDE 2014 Congress.

Having previously organised the FIDE Congress in 1978, it is our impression that Copenhagen is an ideal city to host such a congress, as it offers history, culture, beauty, a high quality of life and a lovely atmosphere, which as then also today will be highly appreciated.

We will be looking forward to welcoming you to Copenhagen in 2014.

På gensyn - See you - Au plaisir - Auf Wiedersehen

President of FIDE 2013-14
