General information

Access/Security

Name badges will be provided to participants and accompanying persons during registration and will be required for admission to all Congress events.

Banks

Normal banking hours are 10:00 to 16:00 Monday to Friday. On Thursday banking hours are extended to 18:00. Extended banking facilities are available at Copenhagen Central Railway Station 7 days/week be-tween 07:00 and 21:00. There are ATMs usually located in connection with a bank branch, which accept a variety of international credit cards. The cards accepted are indicated on the dispenser.

Certificate of Participation

A certificate of participation will be issued if requested when registering for the Congress. The XXVI FIDE Congress meets the formal requirements for mandatory training for lawyers and attorneys in Denmark. However, please note that the Danish Law Society does not issue approvals of planned or conducted training activities - neither to organisers, lawyers nor attorneys. Therefore, the organisers of the Congress cannot guarantee that such an approval will take place at any sampling.

Changes

The Congress Organisers reserve the right to adjust or change the programme as necessary.

Climate

The weather in Denmark in May is normally pleasant, usually sunny. However, on occasion an umbrella may be useful. The temperature in May on average ranges from a minimum of 7 C to a maximum of 16 C during daytime. For more information please see: www.dmi.dk

Currency/credit cards

  • Currency in Denmark is Danish Kroner (DKK).
  • One krone is divided into 100 Ore.
  • 1 Euro is approx. DKK 7.5 and 1 USD is approx. DKK 5.60 as per October 2013.
  • Most shops and restaurants accept Euros, but at a higher rate.
  • Credit cards are widely accepted – also in taxis.

Electricity

Electricity is supplied at 230 volts A/C, 50 Hz cycle.

FIDE Members

Members of the national assciations of FIDE are considered members of FIDE. If you hold an individual or a group membership of any of the national associations, you may register as a "FIDE Member". Please contact your national association, if you are uncertain of any membership. You can find a list of all national associations and contact information here.

Tivoli Congress Center has wireless internet connection in all areas. The code is: tivolihotel

Liability and Insurance

Neither the Organisers (NGM) nor the Congress Secretariat will assume any responsibility whatsoever for damage or injury to persons or property during the Congress. Participants are recommended to arrange for their personal travel and health insurance.

Lost Property

All Participants are kindly requested to report any lost or unattended items immediately to the Congress staff. In the event that you lose anything during the Congress, please enquire at the Congress Registration Desk, where any lost property will be held.

Official Congress Language

Working languages of the Congress are English, French and German. Simultaneous translation in all working languages will be available for delegates in the plenary sessions and parallel working group sessions.

Shops

The shops are open from 09:30/10:00 to 18:00/19:00 Monday through Thursday and 09:30/10:00 to 20:00 on Friday and 09:00 to 17:00 on Saturday/Sunday.

Smoking Policy

Smoking is banned in all indoor public places and restaurants in Copenhagen.The Congress is a smoke-free event and smoking is not permitted at Tivoli Congress Center.

Tips

Tipping in taxis and restaurants in Denmark is not expected but is appreciated.

Transportation to/from Copenhagen Airport

Taxi

Approx. DKK 250 from outside the arrival terminal (Terminal 3). Travel time approx. 15 minutes.

Train

Tickets for the train can be purchased either online from home http://www.dsb.dk/om-dsb/in-english/city-passes/copenhagen/ or at the airport at the entrance to the train station. To go to the center of Copenhagen you need to purchase a one trip ticket for 3 zones (DKK 36). If you expect to do some sightseeing whilst in Copenhagen it may be worthwhile to purchase a Copenhagen Card.

From Copenhagen Airport to Radisson Blu Royal Hotel:
Take a regional or IC-train from the Airport station to the Central station and walk 300 metres to the hotel. Total travel time is approx. 20 minutes.

From Copenhagen Airport to Tivoli Hotel:
Take the Metro from the Airport to Nørreport station and then an S-train to Dybbølsbro station. Walk 550 metres to the hotel. Total travel time is approx. 25 minutes. Take a regional or IC-train from the Airport station to the Central station and then an S-train to Dybbølsbro station. Walk 550 metres to the hotel. Total travel time is approx. 30 minutes.

From Copenhagen Airport to Copenhagen Island Hotel:
Take the Metro from the Airport to Nørreport station and then an S-train to Dybbølsbro station. Walk 350 metres to the hotel. Total travel time is approx. 25 minutes. Take a regional or IC-train from the Airport station to the Central station and then an S-train to Dybbølsbro station. Walk 350 metres to the hotel. Total travel time is approx. 30 minutes.

From Copenhagen Airport to Wakeup Copenhagen Hotel:
Take the Metro from the Airport to Nørreport station and then an S-train to Dybbølsbro station. Walk 600 metres to the hotel. Total travel time is approx. 25 minutes. Take a regional or IC-train from the Airport station to the Central station and walk 900 metres to the hotel. Total travel time is approx. 30 minutes.

From Copenhagen Airport to CABINN City Hotel:
Take a regional or IC-train from the Airport station to the Central station and walk 500 metres to the hotel. Total travel time is approx. 25 minutes.
